Travel

Two weeks ago, my good friend Jesa and I were planning for our weekend getaway / my post-birthday celebration. We both decided to beat the heat by going to the coldest place in the country, Baguio. As soon as we decided when to go, we booked a hotel and bought bus tickets. Both were a smooth transaction, thanks to Agoda and Victory Liner's online ticketing system.

When we got to Victory Liner Cubao, we waited for a few minutes until our bus arrived. The bus arrived 10 minutes prior to ETD and left at exactly 6 in the morning. It was a 7 hour ride with only two stopovers, Tarlac and Sison- the best thing about these stopovers is that the place were already serving food by the time we got there and the restrooms had 20 cubicles so there was almost no line. Imagine having to wait in line after holding it in for 3 hours- que horror. Lol

In Tarlac terminal, they have rice meals and sandwiches perfect for those who weren't able to eat breakfast. I think they have more food choices in Sison but I'm not really sure because I didn't go down to check but I saw a few stalls serving different meals, I think there were grilled foods, rice meals, sandwiches, desserts, drinks, etc.

As soon as we arrived in Baguio, we rode a taxi going to my cousin's place- which only took us 2 mins to get there tsk tsk tsk. Part of my plan was to surprise my cousins and based on their reaction, I think it was a success.  (I wasn't able to take a photo with my cousins, so here's a photo of my pamangkins instead)

We had lunch and gave them my pasalubongs then Tita Zen drove us to Manhattan Hotel in Sepic St.

First in our itinerary was Camp John Hay to surprise my cousin Jam who works at Starbucks. Her reaction was so epic I couldn't forget it (if ever you read this- love you cous!).

SURPRISE!!!

It was kinda late already so we decided to just walk around Camp John Hay and take pictures- Ahh, so many DP-potential shots!

Another hug shot!

We went back to the hotel around 6pm because we were already too tired from the bus ride. We ordered dinner in the hotel's restaurant and I think they gave us a good-for-sharing worth of food that only costs P150! Busolve!

Taken using my Note 3. Photo didn't give this yummy (sobrang nakakabusog) meal justice.

What I had for breakfast (And it's free!). Not as much as what they gave us for dinner, though.

The next day, we woke up at 4 in the morning to try to catch the sunrise at Mines View but we were a few minutes too late. It was still worth it though because for some time, we had the place to ourselves. We got to really enjoy the breathtaking view!

And we met Coco the Giant Dog!

Coco- St. Bernard

He's actually sitting on the bench!!

That dog definitely has swag!

We then bought our pasalubongs in the stalls around Mines View. I bought Ube Jam, Alfajor, and of course fresh strawberries! I think I spent about 800 pesos.

Fresh Strawberries

We went up the Cordillera World Museum beside Mines View but weren't able to take pictures because you have to register and pay first. But it's okay because it doesn't really look like a museum at all- IMO.

Artsy stairs going up to Cordillera World
Next stop was Burnham Park. The bike ride was worth P40/hr, we only rode the bike for 20 mins, one hour is too long I think. Then we tried the boat ride for P100. I don't know how to paddle so I let Jesa do all the paddling. Lol. I tried paddling, too, pero umikot lang ng umikot yung boat- nakakaloka!

With Swanny!

Sitting pretty while Jesa does all the paddling. Lol

Then we went back to the hotel for check out and lunch at Tita Zen's.

After having lunch, we went back to Camp to try the Tree Top Adventure. It was already cloudy that time and we knew the rain would pour any moment so we only tried two rides- Silver Surfer and Superman. It was a long trekk going to these rides and we even had to go down 160 steps.

Superman Ride

I don't have pictures of the said rides because I was too scared to hold my camera but the Silver Surfer for me was the scarier ride among the two. You have to stand in what looks like a tall seesaw facing each other. It moved really fast and the sudden stop made it more thrilling. Everytime it stops, the "Silver Surfboard" swings side to side because of the wind- the ride moves and stops for 5 times!! On the otherhand, the superman ride was like any other zipline but with more thrill. The harness is tied to your waist while your arms and legs were just hanging on metal bars. It moves backwards first and then forward. Both rides were 150ft above the ground.

I wanted to try the Tree Drop but backed out when I figured how high 60ft is. Ha ha

The long trekk going back was exhausting but worth it. The
rain were about to pour any minute so we had to hurry. Upon reaching
the Bell House, the rain poured. So we stayed inside until the rain
stopped. The chilly weather plus the horror-like feel of the house made
the wait thrilling.

It was already past 4pm when the rain finally stopped. So instead of
going to Wright Park, we tried horseback riding in Camp John Hay. For
only P250.00 you get to ride a horse going up and down the mountain with
only little guidance from the Manong. Upon reaching the top, there is
an area there where you get to enjoy riding the horse (Feeling
Haciendera moment)! I prefer this over my Wright Park experience. I
think this is best for adults because it is more thrilling compared to
Wright Park.

The horses in Camp John Hay were all well taken care of.

Jaguar finally slowed down!!

After a long day, we had dinner at my Aunt's place and bonded with my cousins.

We didn't get to see much of Baguio but we had so much fun. We'll definitely go back again to try other things!
